K.Yairi YW-500P is a Japanese Dreadnought acoustic guitar manufactured in 1979 at the K. Yairi factory. The instrument features a spruce top and rosewood back and sides. This specific unit stands out physically with a heavier and more massive body construction compared to standard models from this series. In our workshop, the guitar underwent an extensive luthier service, including fingerboard leveling, refretting, and the installation of new bone saddles.

Body and construction The Dreadnought resonant body is built using a spruce top and rosewood back and sides. The instrument is finished in a Natural lacquer. The unit features a thicker and heavier body construction. The lacquer coating went through a cleaning and securing process. On the top plate, there is a clear trace of a formerly applied large sticker (resulting from a difference in lacquer oxidation).
Neck and ergonomics The mahogany neck features a "C" profile. It is paired with a rosewood fingerboard. As part of the service work, the fingerboard underwent a leveling process to flatten its surface. Brand new Blacksmith Medium Jumbo frets were installed. Both the nut and the bridge saddle were replaced with precisely cut natural bone elements.
Sound The instrument is a fully acoustic design with no built-in electronic circuit.
Characteristics: The use of a heavier, more massive rosewood and spruce body translates to a strongly defined bottom end and a clear mid-range, typical for large Dreadnought bodies.
Dynamics: The guitar is characterized by long sustain and loud acoustic projection, directly responding to the strength of the pick attack.

The YW (Yairi Western) series is a line of K.Yairi acoustic instruments produced in Japan, modeled after American Dreadnought designs.
The increased mass of this unit results from the use of thicker wood layers during the body construction at the Kani factory.
On the front of the instrument, due to years of light exposure, a geometric trace from a removed large sticker is visible.
The performed luthier service included: fingerboard leveling, installation of new Blacksmith Medium Jumbo frets, hand-carving and installation of bone saddles, and a full setup for 12-53 strings.

Bridge: Rosewood – a classic design equipped with a new, fitted natural bone saddle.
Tuners: Closed-gear mechanisms in a 3+3 layout with the original Yairi logo. After maintenance, they operate smoothly and retain full mechanical efficiency.
Instrument condition
Technical condition: The instrument is 100% functionally and structurally stable, after a full luthier service. The truss rod works properly, and the frets are completely new.
Visual condition: The guitar is preserved in very good condition. It shows standard signs of use appropriate for its vintage (scratches). On the top plate, there is a distinct trace (lacquer discoloration) in the shape of a sticker that was previously placed there.
Setup and Modifications: Fingerboard leveling, refretting to Blacksmith Medium Jumbo, installation of new bone saddles, and a setup for 12-53 strings were performed.
