About this instrument
Instrument description in English.
ATTENTION! This instrument is presented as a pre-sale. Luthier work will be performed on it, including, among others, lacquer polishing, hardware restoration, and electronics shielding. Depending on the verification of the neck geometry, the original frets will undergo advanced dressing and polishing, or – if fingerboard leveling is necessary – the instrument will receive brand new frets. The final price includes the above-mentioned work. This announcement does not constitute a commercial offer within the meaning of the Civil Code.
Fresher FS-33 is a Japanese electric guitar, manufactured around 1984 for the Kyowa Shokai brand. The model belongs to the fifth generation of Fresher instruments (so-called Fresher Refined Series), produced at the Chushin Gakki manufacture. The unit features a minimalist design – stripped of a front pickguard, equipped with a single humbucker pickup at the bridge, and a matching color headstock. According to the information above, the instrument is currently being prepared and will undergo a comprehensive luthier overhaul before the final handover.
Technical specification
Manufacturer: Fresher (Kyowa Shokai)
Model: FS-33 Refined Series (FRS)
Year of production: c. 1984
Body: Alder
Neck: Maple
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Frets: Medium Jumbo (Condition: planned new / after dressing)
Pickups: 1x Fresher High-Output Humbucker
Electronics: Passive (1x Volume, 1x Mini-Switch)
Visual condition: Pre-sale / Visible signs of use (details in description)
Finish: Cherry Red (CR)
Weight: (to be completed)
Body and construction The solid body is made of alder. The Cherry Red lacquer finish covers the entire instrument. A rear-routed electronics layout is applied, eliminating the need for a front pickguard installation. A traditional Bolt-on neck construction is characterized by precise fitting of the components. In accordance with the pre-sale conditions, the lacquer coating will undergo a cleaning and polishing process in our workshop.
Neck and ergonomics The maple neck features a standard, slim profile. The neck is paired with a rosewood fingerboard equipped with bright dot inlays. The headstock, marked with the new FRS logo, has a matching color finish (matching headstock). Depending on the verification of the neck geometry, the original frets will undergo advanced dressing and polishing, or – if fingerboard leveling is necessary – the instrument will receive brand new frets. This will ensure proper intonation and appropriate string action across the entire neck.
Sound The instrument is equipped with a passive circuit featuring a single humbucker pickup mounted at the bridge.
Characteristics: The combination of an alder body and a strong dual-coil pickup generates a compressed frequency response with a clear attack and legible midrange, performing well in overdriven environments.
Dynamics: The passive electronic circuit with an additional mini-switch expands the tonal possibilities, allowing for precise output signal shaping.
Additional information
The Refined Series (FRS) is the fifth and final main line of Fresher brand instruments, introduced to the Japanese market after 1983 and produced until the brand ceased operations.
The single humbucker configuration, absence of a pickguard, and matching headstock were characteristic of early Superstrat-style instruments gaining popularity in the 1980s.
Production entrusted to the Chushin Gakki manufacture guarantees mechanical stability, assembly consistency, and high material quality.
The guitar is offered in a pre-sale formula, which allows you to reserve this unit even before the full process of luthier work is completed.
Hardware
Bridge: Vintage Style Tremolo – a traditional construction mounted on six screws. According to the scope of work, the hardware will undergo maintenance and full intonation adjustment.
Tuners: Closed Gear mechanisms in a chrome finish. This hardware will be thoroughly cleaned and lubricated to ensure smooth operation.
Instrument condition
Technical condition: The instrument is currently being prepared for playing (pre-sale). After the planned luthier work is completed, it will be 100% mechanically and electronically functional.
Visual condition: The guitar shows signs of use appropriate for its age. Minor scratches and dings are visible on the lacquer coating. The instrument has no structural wood cracks.
Setup and Modifications: Service work is ongoing, including lacquer polishing, electronics shielding, hardware maintenance, and depending on verification – fret dressing or full fingerboard leveling combined with refretting.
Why choose this instrument
Chushin Gakki production: Precise assembly from a respected Japanese manufacture, ensuring appropriate structural stability.
Minimalist layout: A single humbucker at the bridge and no pickguard make the instrument mechanically simple and highly reliable.
Pre-sale offer: Purchasing in the pre-sale format is a chance to reserve the instrument and receive it right after a professional luthier restoration.
Comprehensive service: Within the set price, the guitar will undergo all necessary preparatory work, eliminating the need for any additional financial input after pickup.
