Über dieses Instrument
Diese Instrumentenbeschreibung ist derzeit auf Englisch verfügbar.
ATTENTION! The presented instrument is offered as a pre-sale. Luthier work will be performed on it, including, among others, lacquer polishing, hardware restoration, and electronics shielding. Depending on the verification of the neck geometry, the original frets will undergo advanced dressing and polishing, or – if fingerboard leveling is necessary – the instrument will receive brand new frets. The final price includes the above-mentioned work.
Fresher Straighter ST is a Japanese electric guitar, manufactured in the early 1980s for the Kyowa Shokai brand. The model belongs to the fourth generation of Fresher instruments (4th Generation), produced at the Chushin Gakki factory. The unit is a replica of classic ST designs. It is finished in 3-Tone Sunburst and equipped with a one-piece maple neck. According to the information above, the instrument is currently being prepared and will undergo a comprehensive luthier overhaul before the final handover.
Technical specification
Manufacturer: Fresher (Kyowa Shokai)
Model: Straighter ST (4th Gen)
Year of production: Early 1980s
Body: Sen Ash / Alder
Neck: Maple
Fingerboard: Maple
Frets: Vintage Style (Condition: planned new / after dressing)
Pickups: 3x Fresher Vintage Single-Coil
Electronics: Passive (1x Volume, 2x Tone, 5-way switch)
Visual condition: Pre-sale / Visible signs of use (details in description)
Finish: 3-Tone Sunburst (3TS)
Weight: (to be completed)
Body and construction The solid ST-shaped body features a polyurethane finish in 3-Tone Sunburst. A traditional Bolt-on neck construction with a four-bolt joint is used. A white pickguard is mounted on the front. In accordance with the pre-sale conditions, the lacquer coating will undergo a cleaning and polishing process in our workshop, and the electronics cavities will be shielded.
Neck and ergonomics The neck is made entirely of maple (one-piece neck and fingerboard construction) with black dot inlays. The profile is a classic, comfortable "C". Depending on the verification of the neck geometry, the original frets will undergo advanced dressing and polishing, or – if fingerboard leveling is necessary – the instrument will receive brand new frets. This will ensure proper intonation and a comfortable string action.
Sound The instrument is equipped with a passive circuit of three factory single-coil pickups.
Characteristics: The combination of three single-coils with a maple fingerboard generates a frequency response with a bright attack, clear highs, and a defined, selective midrange.
Dynamics: The 5-way switch allows for standard pickup combinations (including positions 2 and 4), offering a versatile signal that works well with clean amplifier channels and basic overdrive effects.
Additional information
The fourth generation of Fresher instruments (4th Gen) from the early 1980s was produced in the renowned Chushin Gakki factory, known for its high assembly precision.
At that time, the Straighter series was one of the most faithful Japanese replicas of historical ST designs available on the domestic market.
The use of a one-piece maple neck without a separately glued rosewood fingerboard is a detail characteristic of models replicating 1950s specifications.
The guitar is offered in a pre-sale formula, which allows you to reserve this unit even before the full process of luthier work is finally completed.
Hardware
Bridge: Synchronized Tremolo – a traditional six-screw construction. According to the scope of work, the hardware will undergo maintenance and full intonation adjustment.
Tuners: Vintage-Style Closed Gear mechanisms. The chrome hardware will be thoroughly cleaned to ensure tuning stability and smooth operation.
Instrument condition
Technical condition: The instrument is currently being prepared for playing (pre-sale). After the planned luthier work is completed, it will be 100% mechanically and electronically functional.
Visual condition: The guitar shows natural signs of use appropriate for its age. Scratches and minor scuffs are visible on the lacquer. The instrument has no structural wood cracks.
Setup and Modifications: Service work is ongoing, including lacquer polishing, electronics shielding, hardware maintenance, and depending on verification – fret dressing or full fingerboard leveling combined with refretting.
Why choose this instrument
Chushin Gakki production: Japanese build quality from a period when local factories were setting new standards in the replica market.
Maple neck: The one-piece construction provides a faster attack and brighter frequency response compared to models with a rosewood fingerboard.
Pre-sale offer: By purchasing the instrument in the pre-sale phase, you receive a guitar that will be fully restored by a professional luthier right before shipping.
Comprehensive service: Within the set price, the guitar will undergo all necessary preparatory work, meaning it will require no additional financial input after pickup.
