Über dieses Instrument

Diese Instrumentenbeschreibung ist derzeit auf Englisch verfügbar.

Fender Precision Bass '62 Reissue is a Japanese bass guitar, manufactured between 2006 and 2008 at the Dyna Gakki factory ("Crafted in Japan" period). The instrument is a reissue of the 1962 model. This unit features a darker shade of red finish (Old Candy Apple Red) and a non-factory DiMarzio Collection pickup. After our service work, which included fret dressing and shielding of the electronics with copper foil, the bass is ready to play.

Technical specification

Manufacturer: Fender

Model: Precision Bass '62 Reissue

Year of production: 2006–2008

Body: Basswood

Neck: Maple

Fingerboard: Rosewood

Frets: Vintage (Condition: 90% – after dressing)

Pickups: 1x DiMarzio Collection Split-Coil

Electronics: Passive (1x Volume, 1x Tone)

Visual condition: Good (details in description)

Finish: Old Candy Apple Red

Body and construction The solid body is made of basswood. The instrument features a lacquer finish in Old Candy Apple Red. A traditional Bolt-on construction is used, featuring a classic four-bolt neck plate. In our workshop, the electronics cavities were completely shielded with copper foil. The lacquer coating went through a polishing and waxing process.

Neck and ergonomics The maple neck features a profile characteristic of early 60s models. The neck is paired with a rosewood fingerboard. The Vintage size frets retain about 90% of their original height (1.0 mm) and underwent a dressing process (leveling and polishing) during our service work. The fingerboard surface was cleaned and conditioned with lemon oil.

Sound The instrument is equipped with a non-factory Split-Coil pickup from the DiMarzio Collection series in a passive circuit.

Characteristics: The combination of a basswood body and a DiMarzio pickup generates a frequency response with clear mids and a controlled, distinct bottom end.

Dynamics: The passive electronics, controlled by Volume and Tone potentiometers, respond directly to articulation strength. The applied shielding lowers the circuit's susceptibility to external electromagnetic interference.

Additional information

The '62 Reissue series consists of models from the Japanese Fender line, designed to replicate the specifications of historical instruments from the 60s.

The DiMarzio Collection pickup is a Japanese component often used in higher-end Fender series from that period, installed here as a modification.

The instrument dates from 2006–2008, which corresponds to the production period marked with the "Crafted in Japan" logo on the base of the neck heel.

The service work we performed included: fret dressing, full copper electronics shielding, finish polishing, fingerboard conditioning, hardware cleaning, and scale length setup.

Hardware

Bridge: Vintage-Style – a steel construction with classic barrel saddles featuring a single groove for string alignment.

Tuners: Fender Vintage-Style – open-back mechanisms with classic buttons. The chrome hardware went through a cleaning process and retains its mechanical efficiency.

Instrument condition

Technical condition: The instrument is mechanically and electronically functional after a luthier verification. The truss rod works properly, and the frets are leveled.

Visual condition: The guitar shows clear signs of use. Dings and scratches are visible on the lower part of the body, and there are lacquer chips on the back. The structural integrity of the wood remains intact.

Setup and Modifications: A non-factory DiMarzio Collection pickup was installed. Copper foil shielding of the electronics cavities, fret dressing, lacquer conditioning, and a setup of the scale length and string action were performed.

Why choose this instrument

Pickup modification: The DiMarzio Collection unit improves the signal parameters compared to standard pickups installed in base models from this year.

Finish: The Old Candy Apple Red lacquer is a rarer, slightly darker variant of the classic Fender red (CAR).

Circuit shielding: Securing the cavities with copper foil effectively lowers the noise level while working with the instrument.

Ready to play: After our service work, the bass is fully prepared for regular playing without the need for additional luthier visits after purchase.
